new educational/cultural centre planned
Give Kids A Chance ("GKAC") announced today the receipt of a $100,000 donation from Crystal Homes and their trade partners towards the construction of a new educational/cultural centre in Jocotenango, Guatemala. This large donation will allow Give Kids A Chance to realize their dream of creating a permanent and safe location for the hundreds of children they are assisting in the village with their educational, food and arts programs. Currently, GKAC also sponsors the education of over fifty underpriveleged children in public, high school or university. The charity pays their school fees and provides money for books and uniforms to children who otherwise would not be able to attend school. The new building is planned as a new educational and community centre where the children can meet after school for extracuricular help and cultural enrichment. Here they will be exposed to activities such as theatre, visual arts, computer skills, filmmaking, journalism, poetry, ballet and breakdancing. The building project is expected to start shortly as soon as Give Kids a Chance receives final approval to start construction.

give kids a chance operational guidelines
Give Kids A Chance operates in Guatemala, Kenya and India. Through our agents in each country, recipients for scholarship funds are first of all screened, then approved for funding and lastly, monitored very closely. The ongoing supervision of our students enables us to determine and provide additional assistance where needed to ensure their educational success. Since every student we support lives in extremely impoverished conditions, they often require the most basic necessities of life. This may include food, housing, clothing, blankets and access to clean water. We assist with these basic needs when necessary. In Guatemala, we maintain personal contact with all our scholarship students through biannual visits. In India and Africa, we maintain constant written communication with our agents and visit the students periodically. We learn quickly of any difficulties our students are encountering and thus are able to deal with the problems before the students are affected. We maintain a close relationship with each student which also ensures our funding is producing change in their lives.
